Get Busy Doing
Welcome to Spring! It’s that wonderful time of year again, when the grass comes back (and back and back and back), the trees bloom (and drop all sorts of stuff, everywhere), the beauty of new life abounds in the flowers, and the animals bring forth new life of their own. Oh yeah, by the way, if you have allergies, welcome to the jungle. It is such a wonderful time to finally get out of the house and take advantage of beautiful weather. But, it is also time to get busy doing: doing the yard (mowing and mowing and mowing and mowing), pulling weeds (and muscles), nurturing budding life of flowers and shrubs, and gumballs, oh the gumballs.
We are also in the joyous season of Easter that blessed time of reveling in the goodness of the Resurrection. And we too need to get busy doing; doing the work of making the Risen Christ known, not only in our actions, but with our words as we share with others the new life that abounds in Christ through the Holy Spirit. The problem is sometimes we are too ready to run that we forget to put our feet down. We lunge forward trying to find our footing and stumble. But, we need to get busy doing.
Our transition and development continue. We are looking at many ways that we can make our building more user friendly, ways in which we can utilize our God given resources to live into a new life of the church and be the embodiment of Jesus’ ministry. All of this takes time, effort, planning, care, compassion, vision, and most importantly joy in living a Christ centered life.
New life continues to grow in this place. Let us together nurture a deepening faith and relationship with the Triune God, who has called us into community, and to get busy doing in our community.
May the Joy of Easter ever fill your hearts.

April, 2016 Session
The session meeting was held on April 12th. Pastor Jeff discussed the possibility of new pew Bibles and read from three Bible translations to show the differences in the NRSV (New Revised Standard Version), the NIV (New International Version), and the CEB ( Common English Bible). He also read the same reading from the Greek Bible. The Session was asked to look them over and decide which version they liked the most.
A letter was read from Presbytery thanking us for paying our “Per Capita”. Per Capita is assessed based on the entire membership of the national denomination, then by each regional synod, and the local presbytery. The monies are used at each level for administrative and missions cost.
$375.15 was collected to give to the Food Pantry for bus passes and gasoline for those in need.
The Finance Committee reported that we have only transferred $2,000 from our Morgan Stanley Savings account to the church checking account for the year to this point. Transfers are necessary to pay bills and other costs when giving is down. We continue to examine ways of lowering costs and increase giving. Thank you for your support and care.
Building and grounds is spending $1,000 of dedicated funds to continue the clearing of the bottom lot of the cemetery.
Pastor Jeff suggested starting to plan for the updating of the restrooms in the Educational and the Administration areas.
Please check out the changes in the Meeting Room. Through a generous donation this room is taking on a new look. Thanks to the donor!
